Southeastern Chester County Refuse Authority (SECCRA) is
a municipal authority formed in 1968 to provide a regional waste
management approach to municipal solid waste problems in southern
Chester County.
SECCRA's current landfill in London Grove Township
started operations in 1986. It serves 24 boroughs and townships in
southern Chester County. The landfill has received more than 1,000,000
tons of waste so far. This will serve the community until 2011. SECCRA
operated a landfill in Kennett Township from 1968 to 1978. That
landfill was closed and has subsequently been incorporated into the
Anson B. Nixon Park.
Eighty five thousand people reside in the SECCRA service
area and the number is growing at an increasing rate. The residents
generate approximately one ton per capita per year. More Info Here.

ELECTRONICS RECYCLING
On
Saturday, September 6, 2008, SECCRA will hold its annual electronics
recycling event to be held at its landfill on Route 926 in
Chatham. The event will run from 1 pm to 5pm. The cost is
FREE to residents of SECCRA’s service area. SECCRA is
underwriting all costs and is proud to provide these services. More info here. |

SECCRA WINS EPA NATIONAL 'PROJECT
OF THE YEAR'
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency honored the
Southeastern Chester County Refuse Authority (SECCRA)
with a “Project of the Year” award for its
successful effort to turn
landfill gas into usable electric power. More info here.
