BE CAREFUL AROUND RECYCLING CONTAINERS
CIGARETTES + RECYCLED PAPER = FIRE!

Recently, SECCRA suffered two fires in its recycling truck, most likely resulting from cigarette butts being discarded in the paper and cardboard containers.  These fires caused thousands of dollars in vehicle and property damage.

Even if you think a cigarette is out, the possibility exists that it may ignite paper that it comes in contact with.

Therefore, not only keep trash out of the recycling containers, but please do not use them for your cigarettes.  Also, do not recycle any paper products that have come in contact with a cigarette or open flame, as they may reignite.
