The recently enacted Waste Transportation Safety Program (Act 90) affects most haulers that transport waste to SECCRA. Under the new Act, it will be unlawful for a transporter to operate a waste transportation vehicle without obtaining an authorization sticker from the DEP. There will be serious penalties imposed by the DEP for non-compliance.
Effective December 27, 2002, SECCRA is prohibited from accepting a waste transportation vehicle that does not display a current authorization sticker.
Who is affected by this new law? Owners of waste transportation vehicles (trucks over 17,000 lbs. and trailers over 10,000 lbs.).
Who is not affected by this new law? Most homeowners and small contractors, unless their vehicle is registered for over 17,000 lbs., or trailer over 10,000 lbs.
How do I comply with the new law?
- Apply for an authorization sticker from the DEP.
- Stickers cost $100 per truck and/or $50 each per truck/trailer combination.
