EXPANSION UPDATE

 

As was previously announced in this newsletter, SECCRA is in the process of expanding its landfill in Chatham. This process involves three activities with our host community, London Grove Township including: a public hearing with the Zoning Hearing Board, a public hearing with the Board of Supervisors for “Conditional Use” of our property and negotiation of a “Host Municipality Agreement.” The application process has also begun with the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the first phase of a two-phase permit process. Since there are many complex issues to address, it is difficult to project when these activities will be completed. We will keep you updated on the progress in future newsletters and on our website, www.seccra.org.

 

Unless SECCRA Community Landfill is permitted to expand, it will be filled to capacity in 2009. This expansion is essential in order to continue serving the community with uninterrupted solid waste disposal and recycling services.
